Testing Your Site

Before we hit the “all systems go launch button” for your website, I will check and test your site in these different areas.

  • What you see is not what you get
You would think a webpage would look the same everywhere. Oh contraire! If only that were the case it would make my job a lot easier. Everyone has a different setup on their computer which can affect how a webpage is displayed. I’m exhausted just thinking about all the possible configurations! Testing could be a full-time job so I focus on the most common setups.
    • Different Browsers
(Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera) And all of them have different versions!
    • Different Screen Resolutions
      (800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024)
    • Different Platforms
      (Windows, Mac, Android, Linux, iphone)
    • Different Operating Systems
      (95, 98, 2000, XP, Vista, 7 – and that’s just Windows!)
    • Different Connection Speeds
      (Dial-up, ISDN, Cable, Broadband, Satellite)
  • HTML – I use a strict doctype for all my pages and validate the html until there are zero errors.
  • CSS – The Cascading Style Sheets are run through a validator to check for errors.
  • Broken Links
  • Spelling and typos

If you prefer personal attention, accountability, and an internet-savvy designer who can give sound marketing advice, then it would be worth it to request a quote.
